Orphans Project(Children)
BACKGROUND
The Bible Society of Uganda (BSU) is a member of the worldwide fellowship of the United Bible Society (UBS) that exists to serve all churches by providing Holy Scriptures.

And helps people engage meaningfully with the Word of God. We work in cooperation and partnership with all churches, church related organisations and secular bodies.In pursuance of our mission of helping people engage meaningfully with the Word of God, we have developed programs that help people apply the message of the Bible to their specific situations.One such program is in the area of HIV/AIDS intervetion specifically supporting HIV/AIDS orphaned children.
BSU started an Orphan children Program that has been pilot-tested in the two districts of Luweero and Kayunga , from 2005- 2008 , to meet the orphan challenge by providing holistic support to 200 children within their families and communities.
BIBLE SOCIETY'S INTERVENTION
Life skills seminars and counseling sessions
Through Bible based life skill and counseling sessions ,the children are empowered to reduce dependence and regain lost confidence.
Building character and role models
Using scripture selections and portions, the children are helped to regain hope and trust in God and are challenged to be role models even in such disadvantaged situations.
Empowering Caregivers and community leaders
Caregivers and community leaders have a role to play in restoration of hope in the life of orphaned children. The Bible Society empowers them with the knowledge and wisdom from the scripture to realise their responsibilities and execute it accordingly.
Vocational skill training
Using the help of experts in hands on skills training, the children are equipped with vocational skills to produce marketable products using locally available materials to earn a living.
NEED FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Due to limited resources , the Bible Society is unable to continue with all the four aspects of this program. We need Friends like you to fill the fundraising gap.
The Women Task Force, a group of committed Christians is making efforts to raise funds to support the vocational skills of the orphans program.
To continue this component of the program for the next two years, it is estimated that we shall need Sixty Million Shillings (USHS. 60,000,000) to purchase looms of weaving, sewing machines, pay trainers and buy basic raw material for use in training.
APPEAL
We are therefore calling upon you as a Good Samaritan to support this program and cause a difference in the life of at least one orphan.
An offer of 700,000/= can buy a loom which can serve up to five children in weaving.
An offer of 600,000/= can buy a loan that can support three children in weaving.
An offer of 500,000/= can buy materials to be used for two months by 10 orphans.
An offer of 300,000/= can buy two sewing machines to support two orphans.
